The Café & Cacao fun run is to help support the work of Chronic Care International (CCI) which is a non-profit organization that helps poor people with chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure.  CCI works with patients both in Omaha and the Dominican Republic who suffer from these diseases.  They provide medications and high quality health care so people can live well despite their poverty.  CCI also helps organize patients into associations where the patients can give their time and talents to become part of the solution. The patients provide peer support to one another; generate income to subsidize the high cost of care through activities like community gardens; and work together to transform the health of their families and communities by promoting healthy eating and physical activity.
