Chief Standing Bear Honor Race

This event is in honor of the 140th anniversary of Chief Standing Bear’s landmark trial in Omaha. This trail decided for the first time that Native Americans were declared persons in the eyes of the law. It could be stated that this legal decision was  birth of the civil rights movement in our country and it all happened here in Omaha!

This a fundraiser for Douglas County Historical Society and the Ponca Elders of Nebraska.
